The Renowned Musician Urges Backing to Send Together for Palestine Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.

A campaign is aiming to send a cultural melody to the top of the UK charts. The effort aims to send support to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a opportunity to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”

Resilient Spirit of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the reimagining of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.

“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced after a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of musicians appearing on Lullaby encompasses a group of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a group of talented individuals. The single features a mix of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The team running the initiative have emphasized that their aim is to generate maximum funds for a specific fund. These proceeds will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.

“We don’t have a specific target,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to the people of Gaza.”

The reality in the region was described as its extreme devastation, with a overwhelming percentage of property reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions won't make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing the human dimension of the story.”

The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a digital service from later in the month.
