People have gathered across the country to commemorate 24 months since the Hamas-conducted assault on October 7th, 2023, as talks advanced in Egypt over a resolution to the hostilities in Gaza.

The incident saw over 1,200 people killed and 251 others taken away to Gaza as hostages. It was the most most lethal day for the Jewish community since the World War II.

Israel answered by beginning a armed campaign in Gaza which has killed in excess of 67,000 people, as reported by the territory's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its numbers are regarded as trustworthy by the United Nations and other international bodies.

"The bloodthirsty adversaries have struck forcefully, but they have not overcome us," Benjamin Netanyahu remarked on that day.

He also vowed to "accomplish all the goals of the war: the release of all the captured, the removal of the Hamas administration and the assurance that Gaza will never again create a danger to Israel".

Commemorative Events Across Israel

The Israeli government postponed official remembrance events until mid-October - after the end of the religious holiday season - but ceremonies still occurred throughout the country on that day.

A remembrance service for the families of people killed in the Hamas assault was conducted in the coastal city. Arranged by the affected families, it was broadcast across Israeli broadcast stations.

A period earlier, a moment of silence was respected throughout the country.

Negotiation Discussions in Egypt

Simultaneously, Israeli and Hamas representatives met in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of the Egyptian city for a continuing round of third-party negotiations to discuss the terms of the agreement.

A high-ranking representative knowledgeable about the negotiations revealed that an evening round of indirect talks began at 7 PM local time.

The source said the morning session finished without concrete outcomes, because of conflicting views over the recommended Israeli withdrawal maps from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas seeks to guarantee Israel does not resume combat after the first phase of the agreement.

He noted that the talks are "challenging and have still not deliver any major advancement," but noted that intermediaries are working hard to narrow the differences between the two sides.

Key Issues in Discussions

  • A lasting ceasefire
  • The trade of the hostages still kept by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners from Gaza
  • The pullout of troops from Gaza
  • Measures for humanitarian aid distribution
  • Future management of the region

Public Reaction

In the city's public square previously, 29-year-old a woman - whose sibling endured the incident on the gathering, where 378 people were lost their lives and many more were abducted by Hamas gunmen - shared: "No place seems like home any longer and until every captive are released no one will have peace of mind."

"When we see all home returned, we can breathe once more. Then we can begin to heal," she added.

In front of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's official dwelling in Jerusalem, people assembled to show their support for the loved ones of the hostages. Israel states nearly fifty continue in confinement in Gaza, 20 of whom are believed to be surviving.

Activist one woman stated: "We must do every compromise necessary for the captives to return. But we truly desire assurances that we will be secure."

Opinion polls now consistently show that around 70% of Israelis want the hostilities to end in return for the release of the captives.

Gaza Conditions

At the area of the music event, grieving people assembled to remember the victims.

From the site, the noise of aerial bombardments and shelling could be heard just a few kilometres away in Gaza, where local people reported the heavy Israeli bombardment carried on.

In Gaza City, attacks were noted in the morning of that day in the west side Tal al-Hawa, sector and zone districts and in the east side area of the community, as well the settlement to the north-west.

"When the night comes, the dread arrives with it," relocated Gaza City resident a local woman, whose 17-year-old son was lost his life by an Israeli aerial attack previously, explained.

"We are afraid of the air strikes. All the night we are resting together, embracing, especially my little child who rests his head on me all night."

"Continuously we monitor the reports to see what happened. And I'm concerned that this halt will not be completed and that the war will return to us."

Health Situation

Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City announced it had taken in the corpses of six people by the daytime, including a trio killed in an Israeli attack in the southern area.

A different healthcare center in the south region of the city said additional dead people had been brought there. An individual was died by Israeli soldiers while attempting to get help to the south, medics stated.

Gaza's health ministry said a significant number of the {territ
