Grief as Renowned South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by a trio of assailants, one of whom shot at him before running away.
The reason behind the attack has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, according to authorities.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a location close to the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the building overseeing the installation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"It is alleged the deceased was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before fleeing the scene on foot," an official report said.
Surveillance tape showed a suspect with dreadlocked hair and wearing what looked like a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before making his escape.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was wounded but succumbed to his injuries a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the attack.
Important clues, like cartridges, were discovered at the location.
Investigation Ongoing
Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have seen the suspects to contact them.
"Our information indicates they traveled on foot after the shooting, and officers have been tracking them to find their location," stated a police chief.
Family and Public Reaction
His sister, Nicole Stock, stated the relatives are devastated to process his death.
"I am devastated. I don't have words," she said.
"It is clear he was a representative for countless citizens. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were willing to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."
She requested the citizens to avoid sharing disturbing footage from the incident, explaining this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's three sons.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that premiered on a South African broadcasting platform.
Apart from his work in broadcasting, Stock was engaged in various entrepreneurial pursuits, including private security, offering high-level security services and securing prestigious gatherings across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in real estate operations and was involved in building evictions.

His death has sent the nation reeling and led to an outpouring of tributes from his followers, the government and various organizations.
A senior figure said he was angry and saddened by Stock's untimely death.
"He was forthright without fear or favour. He even criticized me and my decisions as a public official. He was a true embodiment of who we ought to be," he stated.
A political leader said the "audacious attack of DJ Warras in the middle of the day is a shock for all South Africans".
A media executive noted that "DJ Warras was far beyond a face of a reality series. He was a talented storyteller, a passionate music lover and a warm soul who brought joy and energy to every performance. His dedication to creativity left an profound impact."
In a statement, the channel he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his presence, approachability and sharp wit, adding that his legacy "will endure".
