Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position after a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in twelve games, marking the team's poorest run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got significant support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot expressed regret over known failings from his squad in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a period like this with performances like these.”

Jones stated, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
